ITS World Congress-Hamburg / 11 – 15 Oct 2021

Last year, many events were canceled or took place online due to Covid-19. With the increase in vaccination and measures, events are starting to be held face-to-face all over the world. One of these organizations is the ITS World Congress, which will open its doors to its visitors next month.

Experience Future Mobility Now!

In cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, Hamburg will host the world’s largest traffic conference 11 - 15 October 2021. This event, which is the largest in the field of Intelligent Transport Systems will take place under the theme ‘Experience Future Mobility Now’. Up to 15,000 visitors and 3,500 international delegates are expected to visit Hamburg’s exhibition halls and Congress Center.

The Congress offers stakeholders and patrons the ultimate platform to meet with industry influencers, discuss ideas and initiatives, make new contacts and promote their businesses by taking part in a range of activities.

The ITS Congresses Consist Of Three Main Areas

Congress Topics

The following six congress topics have been chosen attentively to give visitors the opportunity to “Experience Future Mobility Now”.

     Automated and connected driving: the transition from human drivers to autonomous cars, buses and trains;

•   Mobility services (mobility as a service and mobility on demand): combining a number of mobility services (such as taxis, bicycle hire, e-scooters, public transport) into a single service, and the development of new mobility applications;

•   Goods journey from ports to customers: How can we make the journey from port to consumer more efficient and sustainable?

•   Intelligent infrastructure: such as digitising physical infrastructure as well as using artificial intelligence to improve traffic flow;

•   New services from new technologies: such as the use of unmanned drones;

•    Sustainable solutions for cities and citizens:developing an ecologically sustainable and energy-efficient mobility system.

What Is ITS World Congress?

The World Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems (commonly known as the ITS World Congress) is the biggest event focused on smart mobility and the digitalisation of transport. Every year, ERTICO organises an ITS regional or World Congress in a different region (Europe, America or Asia-Pacific). ERTICO (ITS Europe), ITS America, ITS AsiaPacific and ITS Japan are its sponsors.

The Congresses are the yearly celebration of smart mobility: they underline the importance of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), particularly in cities and regions where they are hosted, and are important channels to raise awareness of smart mobility solutions among policy makers, experts and the general public. They include live sessions where industry experts present the latest developments in ITS, a showcase of cutting-edge technology and an exhibition space.

Intelligent transportation systems (ITS) are advanced applications which, without embodying intelligence as such, aim to provide innovative services relating to different modes of transport and traffic management and enable various users to be better informed and make safer, more coordinated, and 'smarter' use of transport networks. They are considered a part of the Internet of things.

In Europe Every 3 Years

Every three years, the ITS World Congress takes place in Europe. In the meantime, cities on the American continents and in Asia host the annual event. More than 10,000 participants attend the conferences and exhibitions every year to talk shop or join the live demonstrations. In 2018 the World Congress for intelligent traffic systems and services took place in Copenhagen.

ERTICO – ITS Europe is a public-private partnership for promoting, developing and providing intelligent traffic systems (ITS) for the European market. The organisation's aim is to save lives, protect the environment and offer affordable mobility for everyone. ERTICO was founded in 1991 through the initiative of 15 leading representatives of European industries. Today, the organisation functions as an interface for 120 partners from administration, the industries, infrastructure providers and users, national associations and others.
